In September, I went on a 10-day trip to Hokkaido with my wife and two Maltese dogs. I left work early on Friday afternoon and drove about 200 kilometers to Tsuruga Port in Fukui Prefecture, which took about three hours on the highway. I was already in the mood for Hokkaido!
We took a ferry from Tsuruga Port with my camper van, and it was about a 20-hour journey to Tomakomai East Port. The ferry departed from Suruga Port at 11:55 PM and arrived at Tomakomai East Port the next day at 8:30 PM.
9月に、妻とマルチーズ2匹を連れて北海道へ10日間の旅に出ました！
金曜の午後に仕事を早めに切り上げて、福井県の敦賀港まで約200kmをドライブ。高速で約3時間、もうこの時点で気分はすっかり北海道モード！
そのまま敦賀港からフェリーにキャンピングカーごと乗り込んで、北海道の苫小牧東港まで約20時間の船旅
出発は金曜の夜11時55分、到着は翌日の夜8時半。なかなかの長旅だったけど、ワクワクが止まらないスタートでした！
The ship was a large vessel, weighing 17,400 tons and measuring 224.5 meters in length. It had facilities such as a restaurant, theater, karaoke room, large bath, and sports room. We stayed in a private room where pets were allowed, so it was comfortable, but the long journey was tiring. During the trip, the internet and terrestrial TV were mostly unavailable. We passed the time by watching BS broadcasts or movies shown in the onboard theater.
乗ったフェリーはなんと全長224.5メートル、重さ17,400トンの大型船！
レストラン、シアター、カラオケルーム、大浴場、スポーツルームまであって、ちょっとしたホテル並み
私たちはペットOKの個室に泊まったので、わんこたちも安心して過ごせました
でも20時間の船旅はやっぱりちょっと疲れた…！
船内ではネットも地デジもほとんど繋がらず
BS放送か、船内シアターでやってる映画を観てのんびり時間をつぶしました
We had three meals a day while on board, but we got bored with the restaurant food, so we had breakfast in our room with items we had bought before boarding. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant.
船の中では基本的に1日3食しっかり食べてました
でもレストランのメニューがちょっとワンパターンで、途中で飽きちゃって
朝ごはんは、乗船前に買っておいたパンやおにぎりを部屋でゆっくり。
お昼と夜はレストランで済ませました！
On the ship’s open deck, there was a dog run, so we took our pets for a walk there a few times to keep them entertained.
船のオープンデッキにはドッグランもあって、うちのマルチーズたちも何度かお散歩
ずっと部屋だと退屈しちゃうから、気分転換にちょうどよかったです！
風を感じながらのんびり歩いて、わんこたちもご機嫌でした
On Saturday night, the ferry finally docked at Tomakomai East Port, and we boarded the camper van to disembark in order. We were excited! The Hokkaido trip was about to begin. I’ll provide more details next time, so please look forward to it.
そして土曜の夜、ついにフェリーは苫小牧東港に到着！
順番にキャンピングカーで下船して、いよいよ北海道旅がスタート
ワクワクが止まらない瞬間でした！
