It’s a fun mentaiko-themed spot run by Kanefuku — and yep, admission is totally free!
Only about 10 minutes by car from the Biwako Ohashi Bridge.

ご存じの通り、かねふくが運営する明太子テーマパーク、入場は無料です。琵琶湖大橋から車で10分くらいです。
You can tour the factory, shop for super fresh mentaiko, and grab some tasty bites at the food corner. Great for both kids and adults.

Mentaiko (明太子) is a Japanese dish made from spicy marinated cod roe. It has a slightly salty, umami-rich flavor with a bit of heat, and it’s often enjoyed with rice, in onigiri (rice balls), pasta, or as a filling in snacks and buns.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
“Tarako” = plain salted cod roe
“Mentaiko” = spicy, marinated version (usually with chili peppers)
